Welcome to the Nightcliff Football Club

What a great season for our mighty Nightcliff Football Club, in the Premier League, Division 1, Division 2 (Spartans) and our junior teams

Our Premier League team is sitting comfortably on top of the ladder with only one loss this season.  Division 1 is third and looking for second spot if they can win their last couple of games of the season.  In Division 2 Spartans are in first spot, also with only one loss so far. The junior teams are all faring well with all our U/14's and U/16's teams either in first or second spot on the ladder.  Well done everyone!   The  18's have struggled over the school holiday break with quite a few of the players being school boarders, which has left them short on a number of occasions.  But a huge thanks to the players of our lower grades who have come up and helped them through.

Of course we cannot forget our womens team with their first ever win over Saint Marys!  Well done girls!

Direction of the Club

Our aim is to build the club into a healthy, sustainable business, and to do this, it requires a winning culture. Success on field builds widespread enthusiasm and hope. This vitality is infectious, and as a Club, we therefore become energetic and positive about what can be achieved.

Winning rewards the loyal, and attracts new sponsors, who all want to be part of something special.

Therefore, we need to keep focused on the big picture, which is to be playing finals this season, and each year thereafter. Achieving this presents an exciting opportunity for our current players, because they have already set a standard, displaying impressive on-field skills and teamwork, coupled with fierce desire. So each week we need every individual to lift themselves to another level. There are no short cuts. Just to make the cut means commitment to training, completing recovery sessions, and a willingness to address the extra mental and physical focus required, if anyone expects to get a game in the Premier division.

The days have past when you can miss training, or not do the right things, and still get a game. With the introduction of Spartans, who have over 45 players on their list, the Club now has back-up players to fill all grades. So to our playing group, I say seize the moment. Own your place in the team. Be prepared to work and fight and defend it. Then join with your teammates to catapult Nightcliff into finals, and secure the ultimate prize.

The Tiger Family

We invite all past and present players, supporters, life members, local businesses, communities and people of the Nightcliff region to get behind your club. You can become part of this exciting resurgence by simply becoming a member. With a 25% growth already in memberships, the important core supporter base is fast heading in the right direction. I also ask that everyone becomes as one in this club. We are confidently looking to the future. Individuals make fantastic contributions, but the success stories are always where the team effort is valued more highly than the individual one. The Nightcliff Footy Club, with new vision, structures and many selfless contributors, is poised for great times.

Please enjoy the ride we are on. It has been too long since the club has been so assertive and victorious. This is our new way. Get behind the boys. We need everyone supporting the Club together, to ensure we lift, and share the finals campaign that we deserve.

We would also like to acknowledge all volunteers, committee personnel, coaching staff, and our most cherished life members, and members. Nightcliff has a proud history, and is lucky and blessed with it’s large band of loyal followers.

Go the Tigers!

NIGHTCLIFF FOOTBALL CLUB SUPPORTS THE

               NO MORE....... CAMPAIGN

Sunday the 5th February will see the mighty Tigers play their last home game for the season against Saint Marys.  This should be a great game and a good test for our players leading up to the finals.  We will also be showing our support for the No More.....campaign, an initiative of Catholic Care NT.

Catholic Care NT's No More.......campaign aims to reduce violence and abuse within families and against children.  It especially encourages men to be strong, stand up, stand together and take action to improve family relationships and make families safe.

As part of our support, there will be a linking of arms prior to the start of the Premier League game.  Players from both teams, will join umpires and committee members and line up together, linking arms and observing a one minute silence.  We invite all supporters to join us in standing up and linking arms to show their support.

For more information on this campaign go to the Catholic Care NT website www.nomore.org.au
